Up for sale is a stereo RGB SCART cable for any region of the Playstation 1, 2 or 3. Uses luma to sync the image.

Contains 1000uf Rubycon capacitors on the RGB lines for full compatibility with Playstation 1 and 2.

We are the only seller currently offering a dual compatible cable mainly for the fact that it requires very large capacitors which do not fit in most setups, as you can see from the picture it requires use of a specialized pcb with through hole caps which sit in the centre of the pcb via a hole cut to accommodate them.

Please note that 1000uf caps are superior to Sony’s use of 220uf caps in their official cables, which our older cables also used. 220uf caps resulted in image issues on some PlayStation 2 games, 1000uf fixes this but some people still prefer to omit the caps as PS2 doesn’t require them.

We get a lot of emails asking us to explain this, so here it is in a nutshell: Analogue RGB requires capacitors on the output, 220uf is pretty much the standard used in everything but is not necessarily the exact value needed (often, lower will suffice), it just works well as a standard.  The PS1 lacks the needed capacitors in the console, the PS2 does not. So a PS1 cable has 220uf capacitors inside the actual cable. If you put capacitors in series, it actually lowers capacitance. Use a PS1 cable on PS2, it lowers capacitance to 110uf which is not enough for the PS2 and you get ringing effects on high RGB levels. Use a 1000uf capacitor and it gives you 1000uf on a PS1 which is obviously more than sufficient, and 180uf on a PS2 which has been tested to be sufficient. If you use a lower capacitor value the total capacitance in series is not enough for PS2.

There are two cable options in the “cable length/type” menu:

Fortraflex is a highly graded individually shielded, highly flexible cable made to order by Tasker of Italy for our company. All signal lines are individually shielded with pure copper strand wrap to eliminate crosstalk-induced artifacts. The outer casing is a soft and flexible polymer used commonly in professional microphone cables or high end wired game controllers (eg: official SNES controllers) to allow for increased mobility.

75 ohm multicore coax cable is a professional grade cable that maintains an impedance of 75 ohms to completely prevent signal reflection. This is the highest possible grade of cable possible for video signals, and we’re the only company in the world offering this as an option for SCART. Each line is individually shielded with copper wrap as well as having the grounds isolated from other signals via color coded PVC coating. This cable is also made to order for us by Tasker of Italy. Coaxial cable is thick, but it's the best option if you need a longer cable.

This cable is compatible with the following Sony systems:

PS1 (NTSC or PAL)
PS2 (NTSC or PAL)
PS3 (NTSC or PAL)

May also eliminate visual artifacts caused by using composite as sync, please ask us for advice if you are experiencing this issue.
